88 people.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s Worker’s Memorial was on site at the District 11-0 office in Bridgeville, PA recently.
The traveling memorial honors the 88 PennDOT employees who have lost their lives in the line of duty since 1970.
In honor of each person, a reflective vest and hardhat is mounted on a stand.
The goal of the memorial is not only to honor those who have lost their lives on Pennsylvania state highways, but also to create awareness of the many different people and roles that work on roads day in and day out, in all kinds of weather.
RETTEW staff visited the memorial to pay their respects.
We should all remember to drive safely, especially in work zones where even more injuries can occur with those working on the roadway.
Follow tips such as being patient in construction zones, keeping a good distance between you and the car in front of you, and complying with all road signs and flagger personnel.
