RETTEW AWARDED CONTRACT
TO PROVIDE PENNSYLVANIA ENVIRONMENTAL COUNCIL WITH TRAIL, GREENWAY
FEASIBILITY AND MASTER PLAN SERVICES
LANCASTER, Pa. – RETTEW, a comprehensive engineering, planning
and environmental consulting firm serving the mid-Atlantic region,
was recently awarded a contract by the Pennsylvania Environmental
Council to provide a trail/greenway master plan and feasibility
study for the Greater Kingston Area in Luzerne County.
Funded in part by a grant from the Department of Conservation and
Natural Resources (DCNR) Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation
Fund Grant Program, the project will identify potential trail and
greenway routes for passive recreation uses within eight municipalities
and include the Boroughs of Courtdale, Edwardsville, Forty Fort,
Kingston, Larksville, Luzerne, Pringle and Swoyersville. The goals
of the project include linking Back Mountain Trail, Luzerne County
Levee Trail System, Susquehanna Warrior Trail and West Side Trail
and providing connections to area parks, schools, senior citizen
facilities and healthcare facilities.
In addition to the Greater Kingston Area Trail/Greenway Feasibility/Master
Plan project, RETTEW has provided master plan services for Cumberland
Valley Rail Trail, a 10.75-mile hiking and non-motorized cycling
trail created from an abandoned railroad corridor to connect Newville
Borough, the Village of Oakville and Shippensburg Borough in Cumberland
County.
