Oil & Gas

In the dynamic boomtown environment of shale territories, business moves fast. Expectations are high, tolerances are low and the landscape is constantly changing.

Since the Marcellus Shale Play opened up to exploration and drilling, RETTEW has earned the reputation as the go-to firm for the petroleum industry in Pennsylvania. Building on that expertise, RETTEW has expanded into the Utica Shale Play and is ready to progress into other areas as shale plays emerge.

RETTEW offers complete program management solutions to our oil and gas clientele. Fully conversant in the rapidly evolving regulatory landscape and the overlapping environmental and water resource requirements, RETTEW is well-known and respected by reviewing agencies and private industries alike for our responsiveness and attention to detail. With multiple offices within or bordering the Marcellus and Utica Shale Plays, we can mobilize to address drill site and pipeline needs quickly, helping keep production and delivery schedules on track.

RETTEW’s extensive experience includes obtaining well drilling and water withdrawal permits. We are adept at coordinating with permitting agencies such as the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) and the Susquehanna River Basin Commission (SRBC) to meet the special permitting requirements for high-quality and exceptional-value or special protection watersheds.

Our staff is highly experienced with multi-agency coordination, including SRBC, Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC), DEP, Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR), NYSDEC, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), county conservation districts and municipalities. Additionally, we are one of only 26 firms in Pennsylvania recognized as a DEP-qualified third-party consultant to assist with NPDES permitting.
