SR 4011 Fruitville Pike Highway Widening and Signalization Project

In order to complete a new 500,000-SF retail development along the primary east-west highway serving this region, Manheim Township and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) required an extensive analysis of off-site intersection improvements to SR 4011. The client needed a detailed traffic impact study to determine the major roadway improvements that would minimize traffic congestion in the area and provide access to this significant retail center.

Upon completion of the impact study, RETTEW designed and permitted the improvements needed to mitigate the development’s impact. Working jointly with the County of Lancaster, the City of Lancaster, Manheim Township, PennDOT, and a developer, RETTEW designed major roadway improvements to more than 2 miles of this State-owned highway. The project involved adding through lanes as well as installing an interconnected, closed-loop traffic signal system at seven signalized intersections. RETTEW completed this efficient and functional gateway project connecting 26,000 motorists between Route 30 and Lancaster on an expedited schedule and within budget.
