The Challenge
In order to complete a new 500,000-SF retail development
along the primary east/west highway serving this region, Manheim
Township and PennDOT required an extensive analysis as well
as offsite intersection improvements to SR 4011. The client
needed a detailed traffic impact study to determine the major
roadway improvements that would minimize traffic congestion
in the area and provide access to this significant retail
center. |

Our Answer
Upon completion of the impact study, RETTEW designed and
obtained permitting for the improvements needed to mitigate
the development’s impact. Working jointly with the County
of Lancaster, the City of Lancaster, Manheim Township, PennDOT,
and a developer, RETTEW designed major roadway improvements
to more than 2 miles of this state-owned highway. The project
involved adding through-lanes as well as installing an interconnected,
closed-loop traffic signal system at seven signalized intersections.
RETTEW completed this project on an expedited schedule and
within budget. |
