The Challenge
Since Fort Indiantown Gap is an active
military training center, it is required to log daily coordinates
around the Fort to ensure the safety of the crews. The most
accurate way to acquire coordinates was to survey and monument
all 18,500 acres of the Fort. |

Our Answer
Because the terrain for this installation
was very rugged, mountainous and heavily wooded along the
boundary, RETTEW expedited the survey through the use of code-based
GPS and four-wheel drive ATVs. RETTEW provided first-order
GPS control (15 stations); deed research and plotting of internal
parcels and adjoiners; field run boundary survey of the entire
fort; and approximately 55 miles of traverse. The Fort's leadership
now uses this data to accurately and safely track the exact
location of staff in training anywhere on the 18,500-acre
facility. |
