ARLE Funding Program Opens

PENNSYLVANIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (PennDOT)
The intent of Automated Red Light Enforcement Transportation Enhancements Grant Program (ARLE Funding Program) is to fund worthwhile, relatively low- cost projects that improve the safety and mobility of the traveling public. Projects that improve multiple transportation modes are encouraged. Eligible entities that submitted a completed pre-application scoping form by the April 30, 2026, deadline are eligible to apply between June 1, 2026, and June 30, 2026. The completed and reviewed scoping form must be uploaded as an attachment to the formal application submission. All applications and attachments must be submitted electronically through the DCED Electronic Single Application for Assistance (ESA) system by an eligible project sponsor. Accessing the application requires a Keystone Login account. Please note: The ARLE Funding Program is a reimbursement grant program.
Eligible Entities: Pennsylvania counties, cities, boroughs, incorporated towns, townships, home rule municipalities, or other local boards or bodies that have authority to enact laws relating to traffic; Metropolitan Planning Organizations; Rural Planning Organizations; County Planning Organizations; and Commonwealth Agencies
Award Amount: Varies. There are no minimum or maximum grant request requirements; however, the intent of the program is to fund worthwhile projects that can be completed at a relatively low cost. Total funding available for Year 17 (FY 2026-2027) is approximately $10 million.
Required Match: Matching funds and in-kind services are not required for the ARLE Funding Program, but applications which include either will receive a higher score.
