Automated Red Light Enforcement (ARLE) systems are implemented to help reduce crashes and injuries that occur as a result of running red lights at signaled intersections and have been authorized by the state legislature for use since 2002. PennDOT will accept applications for its Automated Red Light Enforcement Transportation Enhancements Grant Program (ARLE Funding Program) from June 1 through June 30, 2023. New to the process this year is a preapplication scoping form, which will be used to ensure the project scope is consistent with the goals and requirements. All applicants are required to complete and submit this form prior to submitting an application.

Required Match: None, but cost sharing is encouraged; this is a reimbursement grant program
