PENNSYLVANIA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION (PA DEP)  

The PA DEP’s Growing Greener Plus Grants Program funds watershed planning, restoration, and protection efforts. The three programs that comprise Growing Greener Plus are Growing Greener Watershed Restoration and Protection, Surface Mining Conservation and Reclamation Act (SMCRA) Bond Forfeiture, and Stormwater Management Planning (Act 167) Grants. All applications must be submitted through the Commonwealth’s eGrants system. Please refer to the eGrants Instructions for Applicants for details.

May 30, 2025, is the deadline for all Growing Greener Grant applicants to contact the appropriate DEP Watershed Manager and your County Conservation District Watershed Specialist to discuss your anticipated project. For projects within the Chesapeake Bay Watershed only, contact the appropriate Community Clean Water Coordinator by May 30, 2025.

New Features:

• DEP lowered the match requirement. For projects in Pennsylvania’s Environmental Justice Areas, there is no match; for other project locations, there is a 5% match. Besides cash matching funds, in-kind contributions are also eligible.
• Applicants must use a competitive process to obtain the lowest qualified bid for subcontractors.
• The Landowner Access Authorization Form can be used for water quality monitoring, or design and permitting projects.
