WalkWorks Community Capacity-Building Pre-Planning Assistance Program Questions Deadline
May 16 @ 5:00 pm EDT

PENNSYLVANIA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND THE PENNSYLVANIA DOWNTOWN CENTER
WalkWorks offers grants to public entities, such as municipalities and planning organizations, for developing active transportation plans (ATP). WalkWorks is once again assisting communities with the pre-planning necessary to prepare to apply for ATP funds. The aim of the Community Capacity-Building Pre-Planning Assistance Program is to assist low-capacity, high-interest municipalities with the pre-planning steps they must undertake to prepare to apply for funding to develop ATPs. Creating healthier places for all is the basis for the program’s technical assistance support. Please refer to the WalkWorks Capacity-Building Program Guidelines for complete program details.
Questions regarding the Pre-Planning Assistance Program are due by 5:00 PM.
Note: Participants in the program will receive preferential consideration in scoring of their WalkWorks Active Transportation Planning Program application. The long-term goal of the Pre-Planning Program is developing land use plans and policies at the local and regional levels that allow for the development of activity-friendly routes connecting to everyday destinations.
Eligible Entities: Municipalities, namely boroughs, townships, cities, or counties located in PA DOH State Physical Activity and Nutrition (SPAN) priority counties or have an overall percentile rating above 60 in the updated Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protections PennEnviroScreen Tool. To check a community’s DEP Environmental Justice EnviroScreen percentile rating, please refer to this link and look for the Final Score Percentile under the Tract Info.
