WalkWorks is supporting its mission of increasing access and opportunities for physical activities, such as walking, biking, wheeling, and using public transportation, with funds for developing active transportation plans. These plans, which guide establishing safe, accessible, active routes connecting everyday destinations, also help to expand opportunities for physical activity and improve public health.

Applications must be submitted by an eligible applicant, not by a consultant or a non-governmental organization. Eligible applicants are “those with the capacity to adopt and implement the proposed project,” such as municipalities – boroughs, townships, cities, or counties – and metropolitan and rural planning organizations. The deadline for submitting funding opportunity announcement questions is May 12.
