FEMA Public Assistance Program – Category B Emergency Protective Measures
Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
Funds are available for eligible emergency protective measures taken to respond to the COVID-19 emergency at the direction or guidance of public health officials. Category B is a reimbursement grant, so time and equipment expenditures related to COVID-19 need to be documented. Examples of eligible expenses include:
♦ Training specific to COVID-19
♦ Disinfection of eligible facilities (i.e., school and municipal buildings, and potentially support facilities)
♦ Reimbursement for overtime costs related to COVID-19 (including cleaning/janitorial).

FY2019 Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grants
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), FEMA, Grant Programs Directorate
Funds are available to assist local fire departments and volunteer firefighter interest organizations with staffing and deployment capabilities to respond to emergencies and assure communities have adequate protection from fire and fire-related hazards, and to fulfill traditional missions of fire departments. SAFER offers grants to support projects in two areas:
♦ Hiring of Firefighters Activity
♦ Recruitment and Retention of Volunteer Firefighters Activity

• Award Amount: 300 awards totalling $350 million
