Keystone Historic Preservation Grants

Although two categories of grants—construction and planning—are available, applicants may apply for only one type of grant. For this year’s grant round, PHMC will give special consideration to proposals that advance one of the America250 themes and align with the United States Semiquincentennial celebration in 2026. Applicants will be required to explain how their project aligns with one of the themes.

Construction Grants – Funds are for small construction projects of publicly accessible historic resources. Supports projects that rehabilitate, restore, or preserve historic resources listed, or are eligible for listing, in the National Register of Historic Places. Prospective applicants should attend the PHMC webinar on Thursday, January 23, 2025at 3:00 PM.

Planning Grants – Funds are for the planning and development of publicly accessible historic resources listed, or are eligible for listing, in the National Register of Historic Places. These grants support projects that identify, preserve, promote and protect historic and archaeological resources of Pennsylvania for both the benefit of the public and the revitalization of communities. Prospective applicants should attend the PHMC webinar on Friday, January 24, 2025, at 3:00 PM.

2025 AARP Community Challenge

Part of the AARP Livable Communities initiative, the AARP Community Challenge offers small grants for projects to help make communities more livable for people of all ages. Three types of quick-action grants are available: Flagship Grants, Capacity-Building Microgrants, and Demonstration Grants. AARP Livable Communities is hosting an optional “question & answer” webinar for potential applicants on January 29, 2025, at 2:00 PM.

Eligible Entities: 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), and 501(c)(6) nonprofits (must be recognized by the IRS to receive funds), government entities, and other types of organizations (considered on a case-by-case basis)
Award Amount: Flagship Grants – $25,000 maximum; Capacity-Building Microgrants: $2,500 plus additional resources, webinars, cohort learning opportunities, up to two hours of one-on-one coaching with leading national nonprofit organizations, and printed copies of AARP publications; Demonstration Grants: $25,000 maximum

Green Streets, Green Jobs, Green Towns (G3) Grant

The goal of this grant program is to help communities develop and implement plans that reduce stormwater runoff, increase the number and amount of green spaces in urban areas, improve the health of local waters and the Chesapeake Bay, and enhance the quality of life and community livability. Offering six project tracks, the G3 grant program supports projects within the Chesapeake Bay Watershed portion of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.

Note: Applications are submitted through the Chesapeake Bay Trust Online System. The email address used to submit the application must be that of the Project Leader to ensure proper distribution of future correspondence.

Eligible Entities: Local governments, nonprofit organizations, neighborhood/community associations, and other nonprofit entities with project locations in the specified area.
