2021 Environmental Education Grants Program

Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP)

This program provides funding for education projects that foster an understanding of natural world functions and cultivate critical thinking and actions that promote environmental protection and sustainable resource management.

• Eligibility: See Program Manual
• Award Amount: Two types of awards are available—General Grants and Mini Grants. See Program Manual for details.
• Required Match: General Grants – 20% match
Mini Grants – encouraged, but not required

Alternative Fuels Incentive Grant (AFIG) Program

Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP)

Grant funding is available for clean, alternative fuel projects in Pennsylvania and investment in Pennsylvania’s energy sector. The primary goals of the AFIG Program are to improve Pennsylvania’s air quality and protect the environment through the use of alternative fuels that will advance economic development in the commonwealth and reduce dependence on petroleum products.

• Eligibility: Municipal authorities, school districts, political subdivisions, nonprofit entities, corporations, limited liability companies or partnerships incorporated or registered in Pennsylvania
• Award Amount: Total funds available – approx. $5 million
• Required Match: None stated

Five Star and Urban Waters Restoration Grant Program

National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF)

This program provides financial assistance to diverse local partnerships focused on improving water quality, watersheds, and the species and habitats they support. Projects should increase access to the benefits of nature, reduce the impact of environmental hazards, and engage local communities.

• Eligibility: Nonprofit 501(c) organizations, local governments, municipal governments, Indian tribes, and educational institutions
• Award Amount: Range from $20,000 to $50,000
• Required Match: 1:1 non-federal match
• Applications Due: January 28, 2021 by 11:59 p.m.
