In more ways than one, ground was broken on the Pequea No. 5 bridge project in Lancaster County, PA, recently.
At this site, one bridge abutment (support) is already complete, while the excavation for the second is underway in these photos. Beams were set on Friday.
One of the first bridge replacement projects in Pennsylvania located in a rural historic district, RETTEW designed the structure and coordinated approvals through multiple state agencies. Our team also mitigated the updated structure’s impact to the historic district and replicated the former bridge’s unique architectural features as part of the new design.
Along with design and permitting, RETTEW’s team is also overseeing construction of the bridge. Owned by the County, it will be completed later this year, adding yet another bridge to the County’s list of updated structures!
