RETTEW is looking for a Professional Land Surveyor or an SIT with 5 – 10 years of experience to support our Survey/GIS Team in the Allentown and Philadelphia, PA areas. As a Land Surveyor, you will conduct land surveys and perform mathematical calculations with a high level of accuracy. Your measurements and calculations will aid the decision-making and design process for various construction and engineering projects.

To be successful as a surveyor, you must undertake detailed research that involves examining historical property records and maps to determine the legal boundaries of a section of land or property.

The essential functions/responsibilities of the position include:

  • Travelling to sites, when necessary.
  • Taking measurements of distances and angles on a property or section of land to establish legal boundaries.
  • Employing specialized equipment, including distance measuring wheels, GPS, and geographic information system (GIS) devices to measure boundaries and contours.
  • Performing mathematical calculations to determine and confirm surveying measurements.
  • Marking and delineating boundaries and reference points on a property or section of land.
  • Researching and consulting historical maps, surveys, and legal documents relating to the property or section of land they are measuring.
  • Analyzing data using plans, maps, charts, and software such as AutoCAD and GIS programs.
  • Presenting data to project managers and preparing reports detailing legal boundaries and other relevant information.
  • Preparing and reviewing project budgets, proposals, and technical reports. Ability to certify completed survey work is a plus.
  • Supervising boundary, topographic and construction layout surveys.
  • Preparing of final survey maps and land boundary descriptions in accordance with standard surveying practices.
  • Ability to see projects through from field to finish, including traverse network adjustments.
