YOUR MISSION
RETTEW, an industry-leading engineering consulting firm, offers more than 600 engineering, environmental, surveying, planning, safety, and related technical services. We serve a diverse range of growing markets, from transportation and energy to development and manufacturing. This position will support our Municipal Team in the Lancaster, PA.
As a Municipal Land Planner/Community Development Specialist, you are responsible for assisting professional staff with a variety of community development / municipal activities including plan reviews, grant writing, funding assistance, municipal outreach and zoning. This position enjoys a hybrid work environment.
YOUR ROLE
The essential functions/responsibilities of the Municipal Land Planner/Community Development Specialist fall into two broad areas:
1. Project Consulting Support
- Assist senior-level staff with defining community and project needs
- Consult with client on community and project needs
- Provide consulting for a project or client
- Research and write reports and opinions
- Assist in field surveys, analyze data, select and recommend procedures
- Assist in preparing both verbal and written reports regarding project progress
- Consult project team and clients about regulations concerning project-related issues
- Assist in the managing, marketing, and public relations of projects
2. Research
- Assist in defining community and project needs
- Research grant opportunities that relate to RETTEW’s external clients’ needs and priorities
- Complete extensive research of governmental programs to collect data and identify viable funding opportunities via online Web site listings, databases, and directories (online and printed publications)
- Document grant prospect worksheets for review/approval and entry into database
- Research and assess, federal and state rules and regulations pertaining to grants
- Demonstrate creativity, initiative, and urgency in developing grant opportunities
