RETTEW provided final design services for the replacement of the existing Enslow Boulevard Bridge. A critical access point for the local community, the bridge required replacement because of age and functional limitations. The project site presented numerous challenges, including geometric restrictions from adjoining roadways and a creek historically prone to flooding. Maintaining traffic flow during construction was also a key concern.
Our team recommended replacing the existing structure with a 66-foot, single-span steel beam bridge installed on the current alignment. To minimize disruption to the residential community, we maintained traffic on a temporary structure throughout construction. RETTEW’s design increased the hydraulic opening over Fourpole Creek, addressing flood concerns and improving long-term resilience.
Throughout the project, RETTEW coordinated closely with the client and contractors to develop a constructible design that met regulatory requirements and addressed site-specific challenges. Our approach balanced structural efficiency, safety, and community access, ensuring the replacement bridge could be completed on schedule without compromising traffic or safety. The completed design provides a durable, functional, and safe solution that supports continued access for residents and meets long-term infrastructure needs.
