Gobblers Knob Tower Site Wetland Delineation Investigation

Verizon Wireless proposed a new 100 by 100-foot telecommunication compound, with a 20-foot-wide access/utility easement including a 12-foot-wide gravel access drive and underground utilities. The client needed to confirm if wetlands and stream resources were present within the proposed cell tower site. Verizon hired RETTEW to perform a wetland delineation investigation identifying the boundaries of the wetlands and/or streams to avoid impacting these resources and to avoid the need for federal and state permits.

RETTEW’s wetland biologists reviewed existing documentation and performed a field investigation that located two wetland areas immediately adjacent to the proposed site. By delineating these areas, RETTEW was able to find an upland area large enough to relocate the access/utility easement corridor and avoid the need for a wetland encroachment permit for the proposed project, saving the client approximately $5,000 in permit preparation costs.
