Because of the growing student enrollment at the Penn State Schuylkill campus, The Pennsylvania State University Advisory Board needed additional student housing and a place for students to congregate. This new development would also create the need for more parking for students.
RETTEW worked with the architect and contractor to develop a new building within one building footprint that would accommodate not only student housing but also a student union facility. The project required underground stormwater management facilities to meet the water quality and volume requirements. The RETTEW team solved parking constraints by providing both on-site and shared parking at an adjacent Penn State University parking lot. In keeping with Penn State’s university-wide green campus initiative called “Take Charge,” this project has achieved LEED Silver certification.
