Pharmaceuticals Facility Shutdown Safety Oversight

A major pharmaceuticals company planned to shut down their facility for three weeks to perform maintenance and install new equipment. With the shutdown requiring 24/7 safety coverage during the process, RETTEW was hired to provide oversight and evaluations of the work area. We offered full coverage for the staff — electricians, engineers, utility crews, welders, and more — and ensured safety signs, personal protective equipment, and fall protection were in compliance. RETTEW also completed an incident investigation for contractor injuries and watched for spills during the facility shutdown.

During this first full shutdown in seven years, the client replaced electrical equipment, fixed a conveyor system, added an air-handling unit, and completed boiler unit work. The water was shut off for three days to perform maintenance, and RETTEW set up temporary eyewash stations and showers to maintain regulations and safety at the facility. We completed safety oversight during the day and night, including weekend hours, ensuring somebody was always on site to provide safety services. The client greatly valued this coverage, as it relieved their safety staff and allowed the plant to maintain a high level of protection for its workers.
