Homestead Village, a life plan retirement community, wanted to expand its housing and offer residents duplexes as an alternative option for independent living. RETTEW’s expertise in developing senior living communities, and our thorough knowledge of local zoning ordinances and land development processes, ideally positioned us to help Homestead Village achieve their goal. Challenges to the project included zoning changes to permit the housing type and the need for a creative design of the stormwater systems to avoid significant sinkhole risks posed by karst geology.
RETTEW’s land development experts worked with the client to develop alternative living accommodations that included open space amenities like walking trails, gathering plazas, and a community center. This new residential community can accommodate 98 additional residents and provides ample opportunities for them to enjoy both the privacy of their own home and the many services Homestead Village offers.
