Walnut View at Cityplace

RETTEW served as the civil design and land development engineer for Walnut View at Cityplace luxury apartments, a new five-story building in downtown Allentown. This project is a significant part of the city’s ongoing revitalization efforts, providing a residential streetscape in an established neighborhood. For the previous 50 years, this site contained parking lots and a parking deck, but when those were replaced with a new six-story parking garage, this project hid the structure from the adjacent neighborhood.

Walnut View at Cityplace was designed with a unique footprint to fit the small site but still feature a range of luxury amenities that enhance urban living. The building spans a vehicular “tunnel” that serves as the main entrance to the adjacent parking garage. Sharing a common wall with the garage, the building provides direct parking access to residents on several levels. Additionally, the building touts a green roof and water quality inlets.

This project not only provides modern living spaces but also contributes to the economic and social revitalization of downtown Allentown. RETTEW’s engineering expertise played a crucial role in transforming this vision into reality, demonstrating the positive impact of urban redevelopment.
