Wayne Township Landfill Renewable Natural Gas Pipeline Design-Build

Wayne Township Landfill faced the challenge of optimizing its methane gas as a renewable energy source by integrating it into the local UGI gas distribution system. Leveraging our expertise in Marcellus and Utica Shale gas pipeline projects, RETTEW delivered comprehensive engineering, procurement, and construction services to provide a solution and ensure quality and safety throughout the process.

Our solution involved designing and constructing a 4-inch steel gas line connecting the landfill’s methane production to UGI’s distribution system. In addition to building the pipeline, RETTEW constructed facility foundations at both connection points, performed civil grading for these facilities, and installed security fencing for enhanced protection.

The project’s impact was significant, converting methane from traditional burning and emissions into a beneficial reuse. This initiative not only improved the landfill’s environmental profile but also enhanced local air quality. The captured methane now contributes to the UGI gas distribution system, furthering the region’s energy sustainability.
