Willow Valley is a premier retirement community that needed to upgrade their assisted-living facility to better serve their residents. The major required improvements included modern private rooms, enlarged dining facilities, and many site improvements including convenient parking and connections to Willow Valley’s site amenities, such as the nearby ponds and community gardens. The improvements had to work with the existing building and site constraints, existing utility connections, parking lots, and loop road connections.

Working with the client and architect, RETTEW designed the site improvements in a manner that increased parking capacity, improved pedestrian and vehicular circulation, added connections to the ponds on the campus, and worked with the existing infrastructure to create a cohesive addition to the Willow Valley Retirement Community. RETTEW also incorporated new stormwater best management practices into the existing ponds for the additional impervious coverage that satisfied both Township and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System water quality requirements. The overall expansion increased the quality of life for Willow Valley’s residents and staff.
