As the Engineer of Record for Wormleysburg Borough, a vibrant community of over 3,000 residents just across the Susquehanna River from Harrisburg, RETTEW supplemented our engineering efforts by consolidating the Borough’s GIS data — including road inspections and sanitary and storm sewer information — from multiple sources into a secure ArcGIS Online web application.
After seeing a demonstration of the system, Borough officials expressed interest in accessing the GIS data themselves. In response, RETTEW helped them establish their own ArcGIS Online Organization. We transferred their data into the new system and built a custom web application tailored to their needs.
The Borough had accumulated three years of sanitary sewer televising inspections and wanted to integrate that data into the GIS for centralized access. RETTEW reviewed and organized the inspection records, ensuring consistency in manhole and main identifiers. We attached PDF inspection reports directly to the sewer lines and uploaded CCTV videos to Google Drive. Although the videos are protected by login credentials, Google’s shareable links allow users to access them with a single click from within the GIS.
Wormleysburg plans to use the GIS platform in the field, further enhancing their infrastructure management and decision-making capabilities.
