RETTEW, an Engineering News-Record top 200 design firm providing engineering, transportation, environmental consulting, planning and surveying services, recently welcomed new hires Brian P. Dietrich, PE; David J. Durofchalk; M. Sean Joyce, PLS; and Steven M. Siegfried, PE, BCEE.

Bryan P. Dietrich, PE
Dietrich is a senior bridge engineer in RETTEW’s bridge engineering division in its Pittsburgh office. He is responsible for the design, rehabilitation, inspection and analysis of bridges, culverts, tunnels and retaining walls for RETTEW’s private- and public-sector clients. He is also tasked with business development and expanding RETTEW’s transportation client base in Ohio and West Virginia. A certified bridge safety inspector, Dietrich has 11 years of design experience, which includes his working with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission. He is a licensed professional engineer with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. He is a member of the Association for Bridge Construction and Design and resides in Weirton, Brooke County, West Virginia.

David J. Durofchalk
Durofchalk is a senior environmental scientist in RETTEW’s natural sciences division. Working from RETTEW’s Lancaster office, he performs quality reviews of environmental reports and field investigations, and he manages and oversees environmental scientists who perform wetland investigations for RETTEW’s transportation and energy clients. Durofchalk is also tasked with scheduling, budget oversight and business development. Durofchalk is a professional wetland scientist with 23 years of consulting experience involving state and federal wetland regulations, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation, field investigations, wetland and waterway permitting, wetland function and value assessments and habitat assessments for sensitive species. He has worked on projects throughout the East Coast. Durofchalk has a bachelor’s degree in geography/environmental planning from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in biology/environmental studies from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania. He is a member of several professional organizations. He resides in Downingtown, Chester County, Pennsylvania.

M. Sean Joyce, PLS
Joyce is a senior surveyor with 34 years of surveying experience. Working primarily from RETTEW’s Athens, Pennsylvania, and Delhi, New York, offices, Joyce is the principal surveyor responsible for overseeing RETTEW’s New York survey operations; he manages survey teams and is tasked with increasing RETTEW’s presence and client base in northern Pennsylvania and New York. Joyce also provides staff supervision, project management, boundary line determination and quality assurance/quality control oversight. As owner/proprietor of Joyce Surveying and Mapping for 22 years, he provided surveying and mapping services to a broad range of clients in Chemung, Tioga, and Broome Counties, New York, and Bradford and Tioga Counties, Pennsylvania. Joyce is well versed in boundary retracement surveys, subdivision plans, engineering design surveys, construction staking, control surveys for photogrammetric mapping, global positioning system surveys, topographic mapping and route surveys. A licensed professional land surveyor in New York and Pennsylvania, Joyce has an associate’s degree in surveying technology from the State University of New York at Alfred, New York. He is a member of the New Jersey Society of Professional Land Surveyors. He resides in Chemung, Chemung County, New York.

Steven M. Siegfried, PE, BCEE
Siegfried is a project manager in the energy services division in RETTEW’s Williamsport office. He works with RETTEW’s oil and gas clients, managing the design of water supply and distribution facilities, natural gas collection and conveyance systems and routing for pipeline rights-of-way. He also assists clients with obtaining environmental permits, and he is tasked with quality assurance/quality control, scheduling and budget oversight. Siegfried has 22 years of environmental engineering experience, which involves his working with municipal and authority clients to design municipal and industrial wastewater treatment facilities, water treatment facilities, wastewater collection and conveyance facilities and water distribution and storage facilities. He is a licensed professional engineer and a board certified environmental engineer (BCEE) through the American Academy of Environmental Engineers. Siegfried has a bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering technology from Penn State University and is a member of the Water Environment Federation and the American Academy of Environmental Engineers. He resides in Port Matilda, Centre County, Pennsylvania.
