Engineers play a big role in renewable energy, too.

We’re excited to be honored by the Climate Change Business Journal in their 10th Annual Business Achievement Awards, to be hosted in San Diego, CA in late March.

The awards program recognizes outstanding business performance, and RETTEW was nominated and selected as one of two winners in the Consulting and Engineering for Greenhouse Gas Mitigation category, alongside AECOM. RETTEW was selected for this award based primarily on our work with local governments and quasi-government agencies, empowering them to integrate renewable energy into their operations.

Some RETTEW projects considered for the award decision:

  • Designed and helped optimize operations for food waste digestion in the wastewater treatment plant at the Hermitage Municipal Authority in Western PA, to increase production and biogas volume.
  • Designed and constructed the largest municipally-hosted solar array in Pennsylvania at the University Area Joint Authority in State College, which includes an on-site battery electric storage system used for supplying frequency regulation back to the region’s electric grid.
  • Partnered on a public-private project to design a wastewater pre-treatment plant in Indiana, integrating renewable energy.
  • Designed a 1 million-watt battery electric storage system with an onsite solar power plant at the Atlantic County Utilities Authority in New Jersey.

As engineers, surveyors, environmental consultants, and safety professionals, we use our expertise to build and improve the infrastructure of tomorrow. Renewable energy is providing much-needed resources for local governments and private industry that will last long into the future.
