A historic bridge in Meyersdale, PA has been reconstructed!
RETTEW led the design process for this historic arch structure, designating reuse of stone masonry, a concrete railing mimicking the original bridge, and refurbished Westinghouse light poles.
RETTEW’s team of bridge engineers also designed storm sewer upgrades, internal structural upgrades, and safer pedestrian facilities. A stone plaque on the bridge was also re-etched by a local tombstone maker who wanted to be part of the great project.
The refurbished bridge should last for another 100 years with its new design, while also preserving the history and heritage of the area.
We know bridges connect roads and communities – but they also connect people, and RETTEW is proud to be a part of projects like this!
