The County Commissioners in Lancaster County, PA, recently opened Pequea No. 5 bridge, on West Pequea Lane where it meets Meadow Lane, bordering Leacock and Paradise Townships.
RETTEW designed the new single-span prestressed box beam bridge, widening it to two lanes and integrating safety features such as a new guide rail and a smoother curve alignment.
We also incorporated an architectural finish fashioned after the original bridge, which features a recessed concrete style, to maintain the structure’s presence in the local historic district.
Construction took place over the past six months, managed by Lobar Site Development, Inc.
The new bridge was designed to last 100 years, with much lower maintenance costs than before.
