LANCASTER, Pa. — RETTEW, an Engineering News-Record top 500 design firm providing engineering, transportation, environmental consulting, planning and surveying services, recently awarded the RETTEW Associates Scholarship in Geology to Millersville University student Bradley S. Gehman. Gehman is a senior majoring in geology.

“RETTEW was very pleased to present Brad with this year’s RETTEW Associates Scholarship in Geology,” said Mark Lauriello, PE, president, RETTEW. “He is a conscientious student who has really demonstrated a commitment to his studies, and I have no doubt that he has a long, successful career ahead of him.”

The RETTEW Associates Scholarship in Geology is awarded to an outstanding student majoring in earth sciences or geology with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher; the earth sciences department selects the scholarship recipient. The scholarship is funded through an endowment that RETTEW has established with Millersville University.

“As a student, this scholarship has given me a sense of pride in what I am studying,” said Gehman. “To be recognized for all the time and effort put into studying, homework and labs is extremely satisfying and drives me to try even harder to maintain a high level of excellence.”

Gehman is expected to graduate in December 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in geology. Upon graduation, his plans are to pursue a career that involves his addressing environmental issues associated with natural gas exploration and production in the Marcellus Shale region. Gehman is a 2007 graduate of Northern Lebanon High School and a resident of Jonestown, Lebanon County, Pa.
