RETTEW is pleased to announce the execution of contracts with SolMare, LLC for the construction of one of the nation’s largest floating solar arrays for Clayton Sand Company in Jackson Township, N.J. SolMare, LLC will own and operate a 3.2MWdc floating solar array at Clayton Sand Company’s sand mining facility, providing all power needs through New Jersey’s Net Metering program. This is the second floating solar array to be officially announced in New Jersey by RETTEW, following their successful project in the Borough of Sayreville (4.4MWdc).
“This tremendous opportunity will help position Clayton Sand Company for economical and sustainable operations well into the future at our Jackson Facility,” said Bill Clayton, Chairman of the Clayton Companies. “We are thrilled to take advantage of floating solar technology to provide renewable energy at an attractive price point.”
In addition to the floating solar array, RETTEW is constructing a 0.5MWdc carport solar array with electric vehicle charging stations for SolMare, LLC at Clayton Sand Company’s offices in Wall Township, N.J.
“Both of these projects provide a welcome expansion of our solar portfolio, and by partnering with the Clayton Companies, we are providing renewable energy to New Jersey’s largest concrete supplier,” said Joe Forestieri, Chief Financial Officer of SolMare, LLC.
RETTEW will serve as the engineering, procurement, and construction Contractor for both projects while providing integrated engineering, regulatory, and construction services to the renewable energy market as a whole. RETTEW is also completing multiple floating solar and traditional solar/battery projects in various locations throughout the United States.
“The energy market is starting to embrace floating solar on a wider scale and we’re fortunate to be at the forefront of designing and constructing these arrays throughout the country,” said Jason Wert, PE, Energy Market Leader. “The Jackson floating array and carport projects are another example of an industry leader embracing renewable energy for improved economics and reduced emissions.”
Contract review and negotiations were led by Gabel Associates, Inc. of Highland Park, N.J., who will serve as the owner’s representative throughout the design and construction of the two projects.
FPV Solar Practice of King of Prussia, Pa. assisted RETTEW with project development. Both projects are anticipated to be under construction in Q4 of 2020 and completed by spring 2021.
