RETTEW, an Engineering News-Record top 500 design firm providing engineering, transportation, environmental consulting, planning and surveying services, recently welcomed new hire Mark A. Metzler, NICET II, and Curtis E. Miller, PE, BCEE, REM.

Mark A. Metzler, NICET II

Metzler is a senior environmental scientist in the environmental science department in RETTEW’s Lancaster office. In his role, he works with a variety of client types, helping them to obtain the appropriate environmental permits and clearances by conducting stream restoration design and permitting, watershed assessments, dam removal design and permitting, and fishery and macroinvertebrate sampling. Metzler is also responsible for quality control oversight.

Metzler has more than 20 years of experience in the areas of watershed protection, stream restoration, wetland delineation and mitigation, and erosion control and related environmental permitting. He specializes in dam removal and total maximum daily loads (TMDL) implementation planning projects.

Metzler has certification from the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) II and has an associate’s degree in wildlife technology from Penn State University. He resides in Manheim, Lancaster County, Pa.

Curtis E. Miller, PE, BCEE, REM

Miller is a senior project manager in the environmental engineering group in the firm’s Mechanicsburg office. In his role, he manages and oversees project teams within the environmental engineering group that work on various municipal and industrial wastewater projects.

Miller has more than twelve years of consulting experience, which includes his working on water, wastewater and environmental compliance projects in both the public and private sectors. His expertise includes facility and process design for industrial and municipal wastewater facilities as well as regulatory compliance program and project management.

Miller is a registered professional engineer (PE) in four mid-Atlantic region states and is a board certified environmental engineer (BCEE) from the American Academy of Environmental Engineers with specialization in water supply and wastewater engineering. Miller is also listed on the National Registry of Environmental Professionals as a registered environmental manager (REM). Miller has a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and a master’s degree in environmental engineering from The Johns Hopkins University. He resides in Red Lion, York County, Pa.
