It’s common knowledge that a loss of oxidation can cause rusting and pitting to metal materials. But it’s difficult to physically see the potential for, or effects of, this process when structures are underground. RETTEW has the capability to collect and analyze data that can prevent corrosion or diagnose the extent of existing damage. Our electrical geophysics techniques can also spot holes in corrosion-resistant pipelines and tanks, or help determine the safest way to ground power grids.
In addition, measuring in-situ soil electrical conductivity can provide a qualitative indicator of the corrosion (rust) potential for underground structures, such as near electric rail lines, certain machinery, or cathodic protection systems.
Our review of underground structures or piping systems can help companies predict and prevent costly repair and remediation efforts, while avoiding negative environmental impacts.
