As a precursor to identify natural gas resources, state and federal agencies required a natural gas client to obtain environmental and cultural resource clearances prior to conducting seismic surveys. The client was unfamiliar with the complexities, coordination effort, and details involved with the clearance process, and hired RETTEW for guidance and project execution.

RETTEW completed the resource clearance process so the client could proceed with their 3D seismic survey to determine where to drill for natural gas. Because of our expertise in natural and cultural resource identification and natural gas operations, our team was able to get the sites cleared through avoidance of field identified resources for timely completion of seismic surveys. Our staff provided investigations for cultural resources, endangered and threatened species habitats, wetland and stream resources, and logged this information into interactive GPS units and GIS maps. RETTEW worked with regulatory agencies to ensure data and report information was agreed upon to achieve the quickest approval and clearance timeline.

RETTEW’s expertise and responsiveness allowed the client to avoid complications of potential impacts to cultural and natural resources and regulatory delays, enabling large scale seismic surveys to be completed within a tight schedule so subsequent drilling locations could be identified.
