Big Conestoga #9 Bridge Rehabilitation

RETTEW was selected by Lancaster County to provide bridge engineering as well as environmental and construction services for the rehabilitation and painting of Big Conestoga #9 Bridge on Rock Hill Road. Construction involved minor structural repairs to the masonry pier, steel handrail and stringers, and painting the entire superstructure.

RETTEW specified an innovative Termarust© paint system that was applied in a single coat to actively stop existing steel oxidation while preventing further rusting. Instead of using a normal three-coat paint system that does not actively prevent corrosion, Termarust© dramatically reduced construction time and allowed the contractor to complete the project in approximately three months.
