Easton Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations Support

The wastewater at the Easton Wastewater Treatment Plant is difficult to treat. The City was unable to identify the causes behind periodic upsets to the process, resulting in issues with operations and solids retention in the secondary clarification process. These issues had led to violations and fines by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP), and the client needed to resolve its compliance issues immediately.

RETTEW’s expertise in activated sludge operation and carbon-limited wastewater treatment enabled us to identify a number of problems in operation and loading. We provided solutions to minimize the impacts of process failures and optimize operations. We also assisted the owner in providing PA DEP with answers regarding the problems and assisted in approval for reduced fines.
