Masonic Village Solar Array

Masonic Village, Lancaster County’s second-largest retirement community, is committed to solar energy as part of its comprehensive sustainability program. Taking a forward-thinking approach, Masonic Village wanted to build upon their existing infrastructure and see a positive rate of return while meeting their goals to be more energy efficient. Because of our longstanding relationship with Masonic Village and technical expertise as a leading solar designer, RETTEW was hired to design Phase II of the community’s solar array.

Together with Solar Renewable Energy, LLC, we designed and installed a 2-megawatt solar array, comprising 5,987 panels on 10 acres that will produce approximately 15 percent of the retirement community’s electricity (an additional 10 percent over the Phase I installation of 4,350 panels on 5 acres). The project will triple Masonic Village’s solar energy, giving the campus the most solar power production of any retirement community in the United States. As a result, Masonic Village expects to save approximately $250,000 per year in electricity costs.
