SR 0241 Colebrook Road Improvements

Based on a previously prepared roadway safety audit, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 8-0 requested safety enhancements at 13 locations along a 3.9-mile-long section of SR 0241’s two-lane roadway. Improvements included enhancing sight distance; updating signage, signals, and pavement markings; improving the alignment to eliminate an S-curve; and modifying an intersection to incorporate a new roundabout.

As part of the project initiation and scoping phase, in conjunction with PennDOT personnel, RETTEW led a scoping field view. We conducted the scoping phase to determine the intent and goals of the project; considered key objectives such as permits, environmental studies, National Environmental Policy Act documentation level, crash history, right-of-way, and utilities; and addressed key issues before developing the scope of work. RETTEW worked collaboratively with PennDOT to develop designs that best fit the safety needs of the project.
