U-GRO, an early learning center and day care provider, wanted to build a facility in a fast-growing area of Lancaster County to meet the child care needs of families in the region. A location was selected, but the small, 2.67-acre site did not have room for sufficient water quality and stormwater facilities. And, this fast-track project needed to be approved in three months.
RETTEW’s multidisciplinary team provided the services required to achieve the client’s goal. We collaborated with the County Conservation District to develop a riparian planting corridor along an adjacent stream to help increase the quality of the water runoff, as well as create an attractive planting edge. RETTEW’s familiarity with the local development approval process helped expedite the reviews and obtain approvals, keeping the project on schedule for the opening date. U-GRO met their goal of providing a 14,950-SF day care and education facility with outdoor play and activity areas within their timeframe and on budget. The facility’s proximity to some of Lancaster’s largest employers benefits families in the area by providing an early education and child care option.
