Power and action behind your data

Imagine having all the information you need to make informed decisions and effectively manage your assets, all at your fingertips – whether it’s planning your budget, coordinating inspections, tracking maintenance, or keeping track of inventory. That’s what we help you do.
Gone are the days of complicated desktop GIS software. Today, we create multi-layered maps you can access from any smartphone or computer. If you can use your phone to find your favorite coffee spot, you can use our GIS systems.
RETTEW’s GIS technology puts you directly in the field. Need to know what equipment you have at a job site? Don’t drive there – click on a map and see images of equipment, ongoing repairs and maintenance, and more.
Understanding what our clients need and developing solutions to help them succeed today and in the future is really the story of what we do at RETTEW. We are a one-stop shop offering experts across a wide range of fields. Our team helps you through all aspects of your project, including stormwater, water wastewater, sewer, potable water, all utilities, land development, transportation, and more. Our commitment extends beyond initial solutions. We partner with you every step of the way, continuously crafting tailored strategies throughout your entire project.
RETTEW has been a great partner in providing the technical expertise for GIS while allowing us to be involved in data collection and preparation.
The power of possibility. One layer at a time.
GIS mapping is limited only by your imagination. But that’s where RETTEW comes in. We work in tandem with your team, get to know your organization, ask the right questions, work with your people in the field, and develop a platform you can use – now and in the future. We work to understand our clients’ goals and help reach them.
GIS in practice
In Pennsylvania’s Chesapeake Bay Watershed, the stakes are high for stormwater runoff. Anywhere runoff enters the Waters of the Commonwealth, a comprehensive inspection form must be filled out and sent to the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). RETTEW knew there was a better way to get the DEP the information they needed. Working with landowners, stormwater experts, environmental specialists, and municipality leaders, we developed a platform to collect data from the field – faster, simpler, and safer. But the project didn’t end there. The MS4 mapping allowed municipalities to better budget for stormwater repairs and create more equitable tax rates based on impervious coverage. These data-informed decisions made both citizens and municipal leaders happy.
When a large well-drilling company bought another company, they needed a comprehensive inventory of the more than 250 sites they had just acquired. But where to start? We developed a mobile and web-friendly survey that allowed our field staff to quickly inventory, photograph, and evaluate the equipment on each site. Today, when the company’s office staff needs to see the inventory and status of a remote location, they simply click on the custom map built by RETTEW. We were even able to export the information in a format that matched their existing internal systems.
When one town was ready to tackle its severely aged underground water infrastructure, they knew they needed RETTEW’s GIS team. Where are all the city’s pipes located? What are their conditions? When will they need to be replaced? What seemed like an overwhelming undertaking was a perfect opportunity for RETTEW’s team of experienced GIS experts. The team was able to build an interactive map with layers of easy-to-digest information, photos, and assessments. This was integral for day-to-day operations and helped convey budget cycle needs. Everyone was able to see and understand the need for immediate repairs as well as future updates.
For most workers, retirement is the ultimate goal. But what does an organization do when the person who knows everything about its utilities is leaving? Call RETTEW to build a GIS-enabled map! When a college’s facilities director was retiring, they knew they needed help collecting all his institutional knowledge. The director had been with the college since it was built, so he knew every inch of the campus. Together with the client, RETTEW’s subsurface utility engineers located and mapped all the college’s utilities. And in conjunction with our GIS team, we built a “knowledge inventory” system for the director so he could easily and quickly pass on his expertise to the next generation. Today, the new facilities director can simply open his laptop, click on an area of the campus, and see the history and service at their fingertips. The college continues to add to the map to ensure future success.
GIS is a critical tool, not a luxury.
GIS is efficiency defined. With more than 20 years of experience and expertise in GIS, RETTEW offers new possibilities for organizations wanting to run smoother, faster, and safer. Scattered information and poor documentation lead to inefficiencies, costly mistakes, and even safety risks. Readily accessible data is a game changer for business and government operations. At RETTEW, we listen to our client’s challenges and needs and then develop a sustainable GIS solution.
