RETTEW developed a master site plan for Conewago Township’s community park for an undeveloped tract of approximately 103 acres to include both passive and active recreation facilities. Key facilities included pavilions and restrooms; tot lots; a parking lot; a 60-foot softball and Little League baseball field; two U10 soccer fields; a paved multipurpose/exercise trail; basketball, tennis, and volleyball courts; and an amphitheater. The design also included educational facilities such as rain gardens and trails through the existing woodland and wetlands. RETTEW presented the master plan to the Conewago Township Board of Supervisors, and held meetings to coordinate with the Township Park and Recreation Board, Board of Supervisors, as well as the public. RETTEW submitted successful grant applications to the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (PA DCNR), with funding totaling $200,000 that the Township used to subsequently construct the facilities in Phase 1 of the master plan. We also helped the Township secure an additional $457,000 from the Community Conservation Partnerships Program administered by PA DCNR for Phase 3 of the master plan.
