Masonic Village Cottages at Conoy Creek

Looking to enhance their beautiful 1,400-acre campus, Masonic Village needed a full-service firm with experience in healthcare and elderly housing design to add 100 cottages within a limited project area. Existing roadways, steep terrain, and site features like an oak grove with more than 260 trees and a veterans memorial made it difficult to accommodate the cottages at this particular site on campus.

RETTEW worked diligently to configure the ideal layout for the cottages and ultimately obtained final land development plan approval from West Donegal Township. We also received agency approvals, including National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System and erosion and sediment control plan approval from the Lancaster County Conservation District, as well as sewer planning approval from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. RETTEW included retaining walls in our design to optimize the site and complement the campus architecture. These cottages not only fulfilled the client’s target density and unit count, but were a welcome addition to this peaceful village that offers its residents recreational, social, cultural, wellness, and educational opportunities.
