Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center

As the anchor of the 96-acre Brookside mixed-use development in East Hempfield Township, the Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center is a key regional hospital for the growing Central Pennsylvania community. The medical center is a 355,000-SF, six-story building situated on 27 acres. RETTEW designed the final land development plan and associated revisions to the site layout, grading, and soil erosion control for this complex project.

The site design for this facility includes pedestrian circulation systems with internal walking trails that connect the entire campus development. The integrated campus setting provides ample parking, vehicular circulation, and open spaces that futher complement the East Hempfield Township community.

Through superior project management and responsive services, with an emphasis on providing Penn State Health with a clear, creative perspective, RETTEW worked to achieve the client’s goals while overcoming challenging approval timelines, utility coordination issues, and stormwater concerns with the Township and County. The project was selected for the ENR MidAtlantic Award of Merit in the Health Care category for its quality, performance, and achievement in this region.
