An industrial steel client needs to ensure its mill is fully operational at all times. When there is a problem in one part of the mill, it can idle the entire facility until they can resolve it. To fulfill this need at their plant, our client required an engineering staff to solve complex facility maintenance issues and handle between 60 and 100 major work orders per year.

RETTEW is the mill’s on-site engineer, anticipating the client’s needs and serving those needs around the clock. We consistently exceed the client’s expectations and successfully solve maintenance issues that would otherwise impair mill operations. RETTEW conducts monthly maintenance checks; performs crane, building, bridge, runway, furnace, and caster annual inspections, among others; completes geotechnical, roadway, bridge, and environmental engineering projects; and reports out a repair list for structural elements of overhead cranes and runways used for moving materials that range in weight from 5 to 230 tons. We also regularly consult on procedures and action plans to keep the mill functioning and serve as our client’s on-site trusted advisor.
