C&D Technologies Industrial Facility Decommissioning

C&D Technologies was pursuing a potential property sale and required industrial decommissioning on a very strict budget. Previously functioning as a battery manufacturing plant, the location required complete decontamination of plant equipment, the facility, and the ground in advance of possible building demolition. The client needed the work completed quickly and without safety incident. Lead dust presence on site created a challenging environment in which to complete the project.

RETTEW conducted project management and oversight of lead dust decontamination. We also managed decommissioning of 20 filter bag houses and air handling equipment from the roof of the 250,000-SF industrial structure. Our team of experts identified underground storage tank locations and performed soil and sediment sampling and storm sewer assessments to characterize lead contamination in the surrounding area. RETTEW’s proven history of decommissioning experience, as well as our local presence and strong relationships, were vital in making this project a resounding success. Our always-prepared field crew with a mind for safety ensured the zero safety incidents rating for the services provided, even as cranes moved multi-ton equipment from the roof of the structure.
