Houck First Aid and CPR Training

A regional construction services company, Houck Group, Inc. (Houck), was in need of renewing the first aid and CPR certification for many of their employees.

They turned to RETTEW’s Safety Consulting group to detail the training within their specific applications and timeline. While standard first aid and CPR classes are lecture-based with limited hands-on opportunities, RETTEW worked with Houck leadership to customize a more dynamic training class that addressed everyday instances that might occur. Our team of safety experts simulated potential scenarios, including roof collapse, struck by equipment, falls, chemical exposure, amputation, many other real-life situations, and the follow-up steps to treat with first aid. Employees learned how to treat each different type of injury through rotating stations.

RETTEW met the intensive schedule needed to complete the project, providing three on-site trainers for five days, running classes daily from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and training more than 100 field staff. Houck appreciated the interactive curriculum and how the employees could immediately apply the skills they learned, rather than using less-engaging classroom materials.
