Paper Mill On-Site Safety Consulting

Recognizing the need to mitigate any safety issues during a $70 million construction project at a paper mill, the mechanical contractor working on the project requested on-site safety observation to document and recommend improvements to their construction safety methods. Between serving as part-time and full-time on-site safety consultant, as well as overseeing lock-out and tag-out, overall RETTEW had a presence at the site for ten months.

One way RETTEW’s on-site safety staff helped was by facilitating communication among approximately 160 contractors and employees working on the project, including pipe fitters, iron workers, carpenters, electricians, insulators, laborers, and facility management. Through daily reports, we kept safety issues in the forefront of the project. RETTEW’s knowledge and credentials brought high credibility to our recommendations, allowing us to offer possible solutions to non-routine safety issues as well. Trusting that RETTEW was maintaining safety compliance and handling safety concerns allowed foremen to focus more on production and schedule.
